Spring Gardening Hubs!

For my second hub of the day, i created a hub that lists all the articles i have written about gardening and greening your backyard.  These hubs have some great suggestions for spring projects around the yard from why street trees are important to why we need victory gardens and how to revive your compost pile!  I hope these articles are not only useful but inspirational!  Read article here:  My Spring Gardening Hubs!

Growing Vegetables from Kitchen Scraps!

Just finished a new hub on Hubpages that I have been meaning to write for a while.  I discovered that some kitchen scraps that end up in my compost bin can actually be used to grow more plants and eventually more food!  An alternative approach to gardening!  Check it out here: Growing Vegetables from Kitchen Scraps!

Jumping Azalea Bushes 5/6/12

Beautiful azalea bushes in bloom last week at the end of April! These two bushes(yes there's two there) are at my grandmother's house and are at least 40 years old are older!!! They have beautiful flowers in the spring and shiny, wax like leaves all summer. It's weird to say I have a favorite shrub but this would be it!! And specifically these two, which use to act as a hurdle when my cousins and I were young, running down the side yard to jump over it like we were horses (we had good imaginations and my cousin horseback rode). They were not as healthy back then, probably because of us jumping over them lol but now they are better then ever and make a great little hedge, not to mention a beautiful color in the spring!

Starting my vegetable Garden! 4/30/12

After a very warm start to the spring, temps have cooled down a bit, leaving the question of planting on every gardeners mind...my vegetable garden has been needing a lot of work lately so today I finally got some extra soil and dug up a small corner to start planting! Although it is too early for many vegetables in southern Connecticut, the unofficial planting date is May 15th, it is warm enough to plant some cold weather plants like broccoli and lettuce! In fact I started my broccoli from seed in a pot on my back deck and finally transplanted them into my garden today! (see photo below) I can't wait to plant more!

Suburban Wildlife Photography

Here's a new photography hub on Hubpages called "Suburban Wildlife Photography" i may make a series out of this one depending on the shots i can get of wildlife in my backyard or in my suburban community.  This hub focuses on photographs of a rabbit and some Robins I took recently.  The rabbit is a frequent visitor to my backyard and is not always easily photographed.

All the World's a Fog

New hub on Hubpages! This time its a political commentary, like an op ed!  It's general but creative and talks about the direction in which the world is going!  enjoy!

Hub on Composting

I just posted a new hub on Hubpages about reviving your compost piles.  With all the warm temperatures of late and spring less than a week away, i thought it was a good time to start preparing for the summer garden season.  And what better way then to revive your compost pile to speed up decomposition and get more top soil!

New Hub on Hubpages 2/6/12

just finished a hub I've been thinking about for months!  It's about Gilligan's Island, the TV show from the 1960's.  It looks at the environmental and sustainable related subtext in plot lines of certain episodes.  It's amazing how forward thinking the show could be interpreted and how it could be used to help teach about these problems via comedy!  so read here:

Winter day on the water 1/30/12

A seagull resting on a bolder along the Connecticut shoreline on a pretty warm winter day.  Actually this bolder is unlike other rock formations in the area and is a remnant of Glacier movement from the Ice age that formed Long Island Sound!  If you look closely at the horizon, just above is the outline of Long Island.

Hubpages: Spring 2012 Season Premieres what I’ll be watching!

As we pass the holidays and enter into a new year, mid season premiers return to TV.  However some shows are just starting their season premiers!  Some of these shows have even been on hiatus for a while and as a fan I've been dying to get my weekly dose.  So i wrote an article on the spring 2012 season premieres i will be watching.  I only included shows that are starting a new season not mid season ones.  Each show I listed comes highly recommended!  I hope you enjoy and maybe find a new show to watch or if a fan already now know when the show will be back!

Hubpage article: What is a Hashtag? and how do i use it?

For the first hub of 2012 I decided to do a more simple instructional topic of hashtags.  the article explains what a #hashtag is how it is use in regards to Twitter.  It's short but hopefully useful!
